“Reverse Horror” Game Coming Soon

In “Carrion,” you are the monster killing the humans!

It’s been awhile since I reported on some horror related video games. I stumbled upon a  video of an upcoming game being developed by Developer Digital and Phobia Studios. They’re calling it a “Reverse Horror” game. The name of the game is called Carrion.

Carrion takes place in a research facility where scientists are studying an amorphous being. Unlike most horror titles where you are playing a human protagonist killing aliens, monsters and other abnormalities, Carrion puts you in control of the alien creature whose mission is to get bigger and replicate through killing and consuming your human prey. You earn power ups which will unlock special abilities the creature can do to advance the mission.

In the gameplay trailer below, Carrion is shown in a pixel art design which shows off the monster’s flexibility.  It reminds me of the venom symbiote as you see tentacles flying everywhere and watch as the creature can snap back into place in an instant. As the monster you can climb through walls, vents, corridors and ceilings seeping your way into the next floor and to your next victim. You will have to use stealth to take down your enemies. The trailer also shows off the special abilities you can earn through the playthrough. From the looks of the trailer, this could be a surprise hit with horror fans who are looking to put the shoe in the other foot and have fun hunting instead of being hunted.

Carrion is scheduled to be released on PC and Consoles sometime in 2020.
