For those of you out there who love to play video games like I do and love to play horror games, you’re in for a real treat.
During Microsoft’s E3 presentation, it was revealed that a new game based on the 1999 found footage smash The Blair Witch Project was in development and will be released later this year, not to mention coinciding with the 20-year anniversary of the film’s release.
The game is being spearheaded by Bloober Team, who created Layers of Fear. Not much details were given about the game, but fans were presented a trailer that showcases the look and playability of the game.
In the Blair Witch game, you will play a detective that is searching for a missing person that ties in with supernatural occurrences that have been reported. From what was shown, the player will venture into the Black Hills Forest of Burkettsville, Maryland completing your objectives with only a flashlight and a camcorder at your disposal, similar to the hit games Outlast and Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
The game will be available only on Xbox One and PC. It will also be released as part of Microsoft’s Game Pass. Some publications have posted the game to be released on August 30th, but I haven’t been able to independently verify this date.
